Breeding seabirds are touted as a potential low-cost bioassay of ocean conditions. However, the effectiveness of seabirds in assessing ocean health is currently unclear. This research will determine whether variation in seabird stress levels can be used as proxy of ocean conditions and advance feather hormones as a conservation tool.
