This report provides a description of the tools and methods to be used for a national nutrition survey in New Zealand, guided by a Technical Advisory Group and a Māori Advisory Group. Details are provided of the selection of the 24-hour dietary recall tool, modification of Intake24, compilation of a food list, usability testing of Intake24, selection and cognitive testing of dietary habits and food security questions and dietary supplement use. Recommended biomedical and anthropometric measures for nutritional status are provided. The report finishes with a comprehensive list of recommendations for the next national nutrition survey in New Zealand.
