This report focusses on Chinese doctors’ understandings of a) the concept of health and ways in which health can be maintained and/or improved; b) doctors’ observations of trends in healthy food consumption; and c) doctors’ attitudes towards fortified foods with a proven health claim. In alignment with High Value Nutrition’s interest in the health targets of immune health, metabolic health, and gut health the doctors interviewed were specialists in these areas. The purpose of this work was not only to ascertain the doctors’ perspectives, attitudes, views etc. but to determine whether these are aligned with the consumer perspectives collected during previous interviews in Shanghai with consumers with the stated health concerns.
