'Beyond good intentions: designing ethical research impact' with Wade Kelly
While the push for research impact continues to grow globally, the ethical dimensions of generating and evaluating research impact are receiving increased attention. How do we ensure our impact efforts don't inadvertently cause harm to vulnerable populations? What does ethical impact look like in practice? Drawing from international research and practice, Dr Wade Kelly discusses frameworks and approaches to ethically designing for impact, ethical impact assessment, strategies for meaningful engagement with communities, and practical approaches to embedding ethics throughout the impact lifecycle. This presentation explores the complex ethical landscape of research impact, moving beyond simple 'do no harm' principles to examine how researchers can proactively build ethical considerations into their impact work, and provides insights for researchers and research professionals seeking to ensure their research is not only impactful but responsible.
