Varima Narula: Investigating the properties of synovial fluid extracellular vesicles from patients with knee osteoarthritis, and with or without obesity

Obesity is a major risk factor for osteoarthritis due to extra-joint-loading and systemic-inflammation. This study phenotyped synovial fluid extracellular vesicles (SFEVs) from obese and non-obese knee osteoarthritis patients, which supported our hypothesis that the SFEVs from obese patients may play a role in exacerbating inflammation in the knee osteoarthritic joints.
