Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have been widely used in industry, such as electric vehicles and portable electronics. However, LIBs have somedrawbacks, such as modest energy density, limited resources and safety issues. Replacing liquid electrolytes with solid-state electrolytes is an effective strategy to enhance battery safety.
Compared with Li metal, Mg metal has a higher theoretical volumetric capacity and is one of the most abundant element in the earth crust. Inorganic-based solid electrolytes have high resistance at the interface of the electrolyte and electrode. Flexible polymer-based electrolytes show their advantages over the inorganic-based electrolytes. This research aims to design and develop high-performance flexible solid-state electrolytes for magnesium-ion batteries (MIBs).
