Humpback Whale Song of the South Pacific: A deep dive into the social behaviour of humpback whale song

Male humpback whales sing conformist, complex songs that undergo evolution and revolutions. Throughout the South Pacific, song passes eastwards between subpopulations. By quantifying the song in the eastern Pacific (Cook Islands and French Polynesia) over time we can track how it evolves to understand this cultural phenomenon connecting whales across the vast ocean-basin.
