In New Zealand, nutritional care for children with cancer lacks standard recommendations and a systematic approach. This is significant, as malnutrition can increase morbidity and mortality in children with cancer. However, when implementing guidelines, there must be frameworks for implementation and associated support materials for the guidelines to be sustainably integrated into healthcare systems. This study will use the He Pikinga Waiora framework (HPW) and the Framework for Effective and Equitable Implementation Aotearoa (FrEEIA) to co-design tools for implementing nutrition guidelines for children and young people with cancer in New Zealand. HPW is a Kaupapa Māori-informed, participatory approach for developing, implementing, and evaluating health interventions involving Indigenous communities. The FrEEIA is an equity-focused implementation framework adapted for New Zealand.
