Haileigh Patterson: Characterising the microbiomes of diverse Actinidia species

The phyllosphere and its associated microbes affect plant health. Little is known about phyllosphere bacteria in diverse species of kiwifruit. Understanding their roles in disease, especially against kiwifruit canker, is vital. Research on 13 Actinidia species' microbiomes aims to uncover interactions with canker-causing Pseudomonas syringae. Characterization, including 16S and genome sequencing, plus assays, will offer insights into diverse kiwifruit species' microbiomes and their response to Psa.
