Ha Thuy: Navigating Global Aspirations and Local Responsibilities in Health Professions Education

<p dir="ltr">The Internationalization of Medical Education (IoME) is vital for preparing graduates for global health practice, yet systematic knowledge of its strategies and outcomes in Low- and Lower- Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) is limited. This scoping review aims to map this literature to inform context-sensitive policy. </p><p dir="ltr">A JBI/PRISMA-ScR review utilizes the PCC framework, searching seven databases (2000-present). The process involves dual independent screening with piloted calibration and narrative synthesis. </p><p dir="ltr">Preliminary findings from 1,268 records (65 included) reveal a HIC-dominant evidence base focused on traditional mobility, showing limited LMIC-led evaluation and recurrent equity concerns. Crucially, virtual/technology-enabled models offer a promising pathway for more equitable engagement when LMIC partners are meaningfully involved. This strategic mapping of strategies and equity safeguards is critical to guiding context-sensitive IoME that aligns global efforts with local priorities and sustainable capacity-building.</p>
