Gbohunmi Idowu: Dopaminergic Retinal Neurons in a DAT-Knockout Model
Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a neurodevelopmental disorder, is associated with unclear pathophysiology but altered neurotransmitter activity, especially dopamine transporters (DAT). Using the DAT-Knockout (KO) rat model and electrochemical analysis, higher dopamine levels were observed in DAT-KO retinal regions compared to DAT-Wildtype (WT), highlighting dopamine dysregulation as a key ADHD mechanism.
