My recently submitted PhD thesis focused on the creation and display of identity in the texts
of the 5th century BCE Kushite ruler, Amannote-erike. This poster provides a brief
introduction to Amannote-erike and his reign. This will be followed by an analysis of his
creation and display of his persona within his monumental texts, which established his
identity as king. The significance of Amannote-erike’s perception of this identity, and his
creation and exhibition of his identity both as an individual, and within the continuum of
Kushite kingship, are especially relevant to this presentation.
