Dylan Pen: Differential gene expression of ATP degrading enzymes in the carotid bodies of Spontaneously Hyperintensive rats versus Wistar rats

Abnormal carotid body signalling is detrimental in several cardiovascular diseases including hypertension. Using digital droplet PCR (ddPCR), we have shown an increase in expression levels of several ectonucleotidase enzymes in the carotid bodies of Spontaneously Hypertensive rats relative to normotensive Wistar rats which could underly abnormal carotid body function.
