Bioelectrical and contractile activity of the intestine during baseline, ischemia, and reperfusion.

Slow-wave and spike-burst interactions with contractions were visualized by encoding their activations as red and blue, respectively, and overlaying them onto the video recordings of the intestine. The pixel locations of each electrode of the array were identified, and the activation times of the slow-waves and duration of the spike-burst events (start to end time) were spatially interpolated onto the video frames. These videos were used to qualitatively analyze the relationships between slow-waves, spike-bursts, and contractile events, during baseline, ischemia, and reperfusion.
