Billy Wallis: A House of Wild Dreams and Dumb Schemes
A House of Wild Dreams and Dumb Schemes examines social class and the stadium’s condition of being an edifice of wealth, and a force of cultural influence. An opportunity arises at Eden Park to upset order, relinquish power hierarchies, and arrest the public consciousness of New Zealand. The qualitative model employs ready-mades to envision an assemblage of actors. Each totem represents an individual who operates outside the status quo – the unique spatial interpretation looks to wrench itself against the hallowed ground. The composition of components proposes each actor to fraternise in a potential architectural ‘yard’.
