From this image, you can see three strata to show the complexity and depth of reality. Chinese early childhood teachers' professional identity is thus a stratified phenomenon in my research. Critical realism is the theoretical framework I used to examine Chinese early childhood teachers' professional identity. In critical realism, Chinese early childhood teachers' professional identity comes from people's perceptions, daily interactions, and often unobserved mechanisms in society, represented by different strata in this image.
