Nishantika Mitra: Extracellular Vesicles (EVs): Nature’s nanoparticles for essential intercellular communication and health
This image showcases EVs, which are spherical structures with a lipid bilayer membrane. These vesicles contain crucial cargoes such as proteins, fats, and genetic materials. Acting like delivery trucks, EVs transport essential information to various parts of the body, facilitating intercellular communication. Just as effective communication is vital for a team’s performance, these tiny nanoparticles ensure our cells communicate effectively to maintain our health. By optimising methods to overcome the challenges in isolating and characterising extracellular vesicles (EVs), I aim to investigate how different diets affect the composition of EVs. Specifically, I will focus on the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory genes associated with aging and inflammation.
