Maritime shipping paths were simulated between ecoprovinces of the Marine Ecoregions of the World (MEOW) biogeographic classification system (Spalding et al. 2007), using centroids generated via GIS to create point locations for each ecoprovince. Paths were simulated to not intersect with land. The dataset contains calculations of overall distance between centroids of each pair of ecoprovinces, i.e. the length of the path, and derivations of the minimum and maximum longitude and latitude along the path.

The goal was to calculate marine biosecurity risk due to two important voyage-related risk factors, voyage duration (based on path length) and cross-latitudinal extent of the voyage path (which affects seawater temperature range).
